John Cannon

FOUNDING PARTNER

John serves as the General Partner of Spring Rock Capital’s investment funds, and the Chairman of Alert Alarm Hawaii, SMG Security, and Commercial Alarm Systems. More recently, John also served as the CEO of Alert Alarm Hawaii from 2009-2017. That role included a move to Hawaii with his family during the same time frame that only recently had him returning to Chicago in a return to his more investment-oriented background in the years prior to Alert Alarm Hawaii. Immediately preceding the formation of Spring Rock Capital in 2009, John was a Managing Director for Silver Point Capital, having opened and co-headed the Chicago office of the $7 billion Greenwich-based hedge fund. John’s involvement in a number of diverse transactions at Silver Point Capital, when combined with his prior roles at American Capital Strategies and Waud Capital Partners, yielded approximately $1 billion of investments in over 20 platform companies for those funds. John’s involvement in those investments included all aspects of the investment process: deal sourcing, negotiation, deal execution, portfolio management and board oversight. In addition to his role as Chairman of the Board for each of Spring Rock Capital’s portfolio companies, John serves on the Board of Directors for City Mill, one of Hawaii’s leading companies founded in the late 1800’s, and served on the Board of Trustees of LeJardin Academy for 7 years, most recently as Chairman of the Board of Trustees from 2014-2016. John has also served since 2010 on the Board of Directors of NetOne International, an elite network of over 30 of the industry’s leading security companies. John is a graduate of the University of Illinois and lives in Western Springs, Illinois with his wife and four kids.
